Thin Air at the Top of the World

By beth g sanders+ on April 27, 2012 in blog

Ever since I read Jon Krakauer’s book, Into Thin Air, I’ve been fascinated by Mt. Everest. Don’t ask me why — there is no way I’d ever risk my life to climb a mountain. I don’t camp and I don’t go anywhere that lacks a good strong wifi signal and a place to plugin my flatiron.

But someday I’d like to see Mt. Everest. Put it on my bucket list along with meeting Art Garfunkel, seeing the Northern Lights and visiting International Falls, Minnesota in the winter.

Anyway, for those who are crazy brave enough to try to summit Mt. Everest, May is the time to do it. So National Geographic has a team there to document the process. Check that out here. Meanwhile, here’s a cool video.

Update as of Sunday, April 29: Photographer Cory Richards was evacuated from Everest Base Camp after suffering symptoms of altitude sickness.

What’s the craziest thing on your bucket list? Summitting Everest? Skydiving?
